During membership renewals, you will have the opportunity to participate in a member survey.
Intercounty Team Tennis
Last year, we introduced Intercounty Team Tennis to YOMTC for a trial run after a survey of members was conducted. A decision must now be made whether Intercounty should continue in 2024. The current Mixed B Team had a successful season, placing 2nd in the division and advancing to the playoffs. There have been some inquiries about starting a Mixed C Team, since the current B Team caters to the strongest players at YOMTC. There are also Ladies and Mixed 55+ Teams as further options if there is enough interest from members. A team can only be formed if there are enough players to fill a roster, and a Team Captain volunteers to organize it.
The court usage that is required per team is as follows:
Mixed A, B, and C teams play either Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 7-10pm on 3 courts approximately 8 times per season, per team. Ladies and Mixed 55+ Teams play during weekday daytime approximately 8 times per season, per team. The season occurs from mid May to mid August.
OTA Junior Tournament
At the AGM, a member put forward a question about hosting an OTA Junior Tournament this season at YOMTC. It was agreed the question would be put forward to the membership. The OTA (Ontario Tennis Association) is always looking for Clubs willing to host tournaments which are an important component for the development of competitive junior players.
Generally, a tournament will take place over the course of 3 days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Most matches would be played Friday late afternoon and evening on most courts. We could have Saturday's matches in the afternoon so members can still have their open play during the morning hours. The same could apply on Sunday and only the finals would be played on 1 court for a couple hours in the afternoon. Another option is to have a "Rookie Tournament" where the format is round robin play over the course of a single day. The question being put forward to members is whether or not YOMTC would be willing to host 1 junior tournament this season.
Survey Process
When you renew your membership, you will be able to make your selections (as seen below). Please make only 1 selection for the Intercounty Section, and 1 selection for the OTA Junior Tournament section. The window for receiving survey responses will be March 1 to March 22.

Results of the survey will be announced after March 22nd.
